Beech Hill College has become the first school in County Monaghan to participate in the Neat Streets Programme operated by An Taisce. The Neat Streets programme is an anti-litter & waste campaign run within secondary schools across Ireland. Beech Hill College are one of thirty schools nationwide who are involved in this worthwhile programme. Recently theTransition Year Students attended an introduction workshop presented by Gary Tyrrell Neat Streets Officer from An Taisce and Niall O’ Connor Environmental Awareness Officer from Monaghan County Council. The programme is designed to facilitate and develop leadership, project management, citizenship and communication skills among students, through the design and implementation of an anti-litter and waste campaign. The Transition Year students guided by their Geography teacher Ms. Fitzpatrick are currently putting an action plan in place to raise awareness within the school and encourage the whole school to get involved in thetheir On the successful completion of the programme students will attend an awards ceremony in Dublin next May.
