The Ulster One Wall Competition took place in Virginia Collge, on Friday the 10th November 2017. With 13 teams, representing schools from across the county competing for a place in the Ulster final, it comes as no surprise that this was highly competitive. Schools represented at the competition were St Macartan’s College, Monaghan, St Patrick’s College Cavan, St Clare’s, Ballyjamesduff, Patrician High School, Carrickmacross, Virginia Collge, Colaiste Dun an Ri, Kingscourt.
In the qualifying rounds, Beech Hill College put on a display of quality handball that secured them a place in the semi-final, against St Pat’s College, Cavan. The semi-final couldn’t have been closer, resulting in a tie breaker, with Beech Hill College emerging the winners as a result of quality serves and kill shots. Beech Hill College saved their best to last beating Virginia College in the final in style. Well done to Beech Hill College’s handball team for all their hard-work, training at lunch times and after school and the commitment and dedication shown over the last number of months.
Good luck to Beech Hill College who now go on to represent the County in the final on Friday the 20th November. The Ulster final is being held this year in Beech Hill on the walls that were built by the transition year students.
