Congratulations to our Beech Hill College team – Recycled Mechanical Art who were awarded Second Place in the Senior Category of the Student Enterprise Programme 2018. Over 30 teams in this category were judged in The Four Seasons Hotel, Monaghan on 8th March. There are many aspects to the competition - students were judged on their product, finance, social media, interview, marketing, business report and personal development.
From their slogan – “One Man’s Scrap is Another Man’s Gold” students recycled car parts from old scrap cars, normally used for scrap to create very impressive household products. Among the products produced by Recycled Mechanical Art were; lamps made from camshafts, clocks from hubcaps, decorative characters from pistons, breakfast bar stools made from the front shocks of a car and vanity mirrors from car wing mirrors, key holders. The team would like to thank their teacher Mr David Treanor for his guidance and mentoring since their company was founded, Monaghan Local enterprise Office, Ms Lena Shaw for her support, the principal and staff of Beech Hill College and Ms Gill. They are kindly donating the proceeds of their sales to Monaghan Special Olympics.
