The students of Beech Hill College were delighted to raise their first ever Green-Schools Flag at a celebratory flag raising ceremony on Wednesday morning 23rd May.
After a whole school inspection from Nial O’Connor, an Environmental Officer from Monaghan County Council, we received the good news that we were one of the successful schools to obtain the flag. After two years of hard work and determination on the theme of litter and waste, the students involved in the environmental management programme were delighted.
On 17th May four of the committee members along with Ms Fitzpatrick, Green-Schools coordinator, travelled to the City North Hotel to collect the flag at an awards ceremony. We were one of only two secondary schools in County Monaghan to receive the flag from An Taisce.
We are proud to announce that Beech Hill College is officially “A Green School”! We are already looking forward to working towards our next flag, the conservation of Energy.
