Last Friday May 25th Beech Hill College held a presentation for the 2017/2018 TY students in the school library to mark the end of a very successful Transition Year Programme. Ms Gill the TY coordinator presented the students with their TY folders full of certificates which reflected and recognised the many and varied activities they were involved in throughout the year. These activities are listed in the TY newsletter which is available on the Beech Hill College website. The students had an extremely busy but exciting year during which they got the chance to explore new areas while also continuing with their academic subjects. These new and invaluable experiences have helped the students to become more confident and independent individuals.
Mr McArdle the school principal complemented the students on all they had achieved from the TY programme in particular those activities that took them out of their comfort zone and thus preparing them for future changes in their lives.
Two of the TY students Darren Kelly and Amelie Bonk gave a lovely reflection on behalf of their year group. It was very evident from their reflection that the students had a fantastic year and are sad to see it all come to an end.
Other presentations made on the day were the Drama Awards and the Gaisce Awards.
Ms McArdle presented the TY students who were involved in the fabulous production of the Wizard of Oz with medals recognising their various talents and contributions.
Ms Gleeson presented 19 of the TY students with their Bronze Gaisce Award. Each participant who completed this award received a Bronze certificate signed by the President of Ireland, a Bronze medal and a Bronze pin.
