Beech Hill College has been named the winner of the 2019 SEAI One Good Idea Competition for their campaign ‘Practical Plastics’. The campaign aims to eliminate all single-use plastics in their school. The group inspired all students to ban single-use plastic bottles and introduce reusable aluminium bottles instead, as well as change all single-use plastic in the canteen to reusable or biodegradable alternatives.
They TY students made a film, and furniture and art from plastic bottles to encourage the other students in Beech Hill College to think about plastic pollution, the energy it takes to create single-use plastics and the actions they can take to reduce it. Huge thanks to their teacher Ms Melanie Conlon and well done to all!
