I’m looking forward to listening to the student voice, student needs and concerns as I prepare for our exciting journey together. I am delighted to get the opportunity to build relationships and to work with the current staff, students, parents/guardians, the local community and CMETB to make our school a bench mark for equality of access and excellence in achievement.
I’m also looking forward to the new challenges the role will bring including the development of our new school building and seeing students excel in their learning experiences that the new facilities will bring”
In 2020 The Department of Education and Skills approved grant funding for major extension works at Beech Hill College, Monaghan. The project will include the construction of a multi-storey extension to the existing school building at Tirkeenan in Monaghan town. The substantial programme of work will deliver a purpose-built special needs unit for the post primary school along with six new general classrooms, four Special Education Teacher (SET) support rooms, a new multimedia room, a woodwork room with prep area and a science laboratory with prep area. Prior to this exciting building project Beech Hill College will proceed with the opening of a ASD class for children with autism in September 2021.
Principal Patrick Mc Ardle says “We have a dedicated, hardworking, professional staff and a wonderful cohort of students and we’re delighted that they will get to work and learn in a new and improved environment. We are especially proud to be promoting the inclusive ethos of our school with the addition of the ASD classes and we look forward to welcoming families to be educated together rather than in separate environments.”
With a wide range of subjects on offer and extracurricular activities for all to enjoy, here in Beech Hill College, there is something for everyone. We are providing a safe environment for all our students as they make their phased return to school over the next few weeks and we look forward to extending a warm welcome to our large cohort of incoming first year students as they embark on their educational journey with us in September 2021.
