BHC in All Ireland FIRST Lego League Final

Updated: May 17, 2023

Beech Hill Colleges Lego Robotics Team competed in the All-Ireland FIRST Lego League in Dublin on Saturday. ‘The Scopion Octet’ competed as one of 24 teams from Ireland and Northern Ireland vying for a place at the World finals in Huston.

The team spent many hours designing and programming their robot for competition, as well as preparing their ‘Innovation Project’ which looked at a creative way of harnessing energy through road bumps around the school. All students on the team are studying the STEAM and Film short courses in Beech Hill College. These subjects helped the team develop the skills needed to reach the final. The team were unfortunately unsuccessful in winning on Saturday but were commended for their commitment, vision, teamwork and ability to work off their own initiative.

The team learned so much and had a great day in Dublin. It was a great achievement to make it to the finals. The team along with other students in their classes, are already planning for next year's competition.
